International summer school 2025

Overseas students have enjoyed a fortnight of ‘amazing’ activities in and around Britain’s Ocean City as part of an international summer school.
The University of Plymouth welcomed 29 students from its partner institutions, China Agricultural University (CAU); Shanghai Maritime University (SMU); and National School of Business Management (NSBM Green University – Sri Lanka).

The students’ academic programme included sessions on AI, immersive media, as well as marketing and participating in a NATO simulation. Other activities included visiting local attractions ranging from the National Marine Aquarium to The Box and Plymouth Hoe.
Their trip culminated in a visit to London before flying home, and the students praised the support they received from staff and student ambassadors alike.

The Summer School programme was truly AMAZING.

From arriving at the Heathrow Airport we felt we were cared for. The Student Ambassadors did a great job.
The academic sessions were active and practical. We enjoyed every one of them.
The accommodation was great too. A huge thanks to the team that organised this Summer School Programme. It was such an amazing experience. I LOVED IT!

It was such a privilege to serve as a student ambassador for the two-week programme, and every day was packed with learning laughter and connection.

Huge thanks to the brilliant University staff and team who made this happen, and of course my fellow ambassadors – it was an absolute joy working with such a supportive and inspiring team!
This experience strengthened my leadership, intercultural communication and pastoral care skills, all of which I’ll carry forward into my future work as a doctor.
