You are invited to attend a cross-disciplinary ADA Photography-Architecture symposium organised by Angus Fraser (Photography) and Professor Igea Troiani (Architecture) featuring talks by the London-based Swiss French architectural photographer, Hélène Binet and Professor of Architecture specialising on the relationship between photography, architecture and built space, Professor Hugh Campbell (University College Dublin).

The programme is as follows:

Biographies

Hélène Binet is a Swiss-French architectural photographer based in London, who is also one of the leading architectural photographers in the world. She is most known for her work with architects Daniel Libeskind, Peter Zumthor, and Zaha Hadid, and has published books on works of several architects. Binet was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 2008 and the Julius Shulman Institute Excellence in Photography Award in 2015. Her work is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Binet’s recent exhibition, “Light Lines: The Architectural Photography of Hélène Binet” ran at the Royal Academy of Arts in London from the October 23, 2021 to January 23, 2022. Hugh Campbell is a Professor of Architecture and Head of Subject for Architecture at University College Dublin. His research interests include modern and contemporary architecture in Ireland, the relationship between photography, architecture and built space and the visual culture and development of cities. His recent publications include a monograph on photography and built space entitled Space Framed: Photography, Architecture and the Social Landscape (2020) published by Lund Humphries and the edited book with Professor Igea Troiani on Architecture Filmmaking (2019). With Nathalie Weadick, Campbell was curator of Ireland's pavilion at the 2008 Venice Biennale. The exhibition, The Lives of Spaces, subsequently toured Ireland and London. In 2018, Campbell curated the Close Encounter section of the Venice Biennale with 2020 Pritzker Architecture Prize winners, Yvonne Farrell and Shelley MacNamara, a show which also toured Ireland, in collaboration with the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF).
