Moor to sea, there’s more to see on foot without the car!
Moor to Sea without the Car is a unique, walking guide created in partnership with the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth (DSRTP) and the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership.
Each walk, written by DSRTP members, is beautifully illustrated with original paintings, photographs, poetry and maps, masterfully created by University of Plymouth students and staff.
This guide introduces you to the stunning coastline, rolling countryside and wild moorland that surrounds Plymouth. It contains eleven walks that range from an afternoon stroll to a more challenging hike, all of which can be sustainably reached by public transport - bus, train and ferry.
Being prepared and keeping safe is important when exploring, so our writers have included useful information to help you do just that; travel info, kit lists and places to eat – and information about activities that will enhance your enjoyment of this hidden world, such as letterboxing and geocaching.
“Over the last few years we have been working with the University in partnership, creating many student experience opportunities and in turn benefiting from their experience and fresh ideas. This is our biggest student project yet and their high standard of work is creating the ultimate walking guide for fellow students and staff, giving us another unique way to raise funds and continue our rescue work.” Ken Ringwood, team member of DSRTP
All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth (registered charity 1106095) to support their work finding loved ones and saving lives in the communities of Plymouth, Dartmoor and their surrounding areas.
