ASTI Special Interest Groups

ASTI are launching five special interest groups at the Digital Learning Conference 2016. The five special interest groups will focus on:

  • Blended and Distance Learning
  • Digital Learning Environment
  • eAssessment
  • ePortfolios with PebblePad
  • Plymouth University Mobile App

These groups will share current practice across the university and the art of the possible; discuss current issues and possible solutions; and look at future requirements. Specific information about each group can be found below.

Blended and Distance Learning

Group Aims:

  • Share practice, experience and ideas
  • Facilitate a supportive community of users and interested parties across the institution
  • Discuss current issues and concerns with technology, process and practice and feedback to relevant departments where necessary
  • Identify future needs, gaps in support or technology provision and highlight opportunities
  • Search for good practice outside of our institution and horizon scan

Digital Learning Environment

Group Aims:

  • Facilitate a community of interested users from across the institution to share practice, experiences and ideas
  • Feed into the strategic direction of the DLE to help identify and prioritise future improvements and features
  • Build a picture of differing practices across the institution
  • Offer help and guidance in the use of the DLE
  • Identify good practice outside of our institution and horizon scan for future developments

eAssessment

Group Aims:

  • Learn from each other by sharing practice from across our institution
  • Discuss what eAssessment looks like in a range of contexts
  • Offer help and advice in the use of eAssessment tools to ensure we can align technology, practice and policy
  • Discuss current issues, possible solutions and work arounds
  • ‘Where next?’ - consider future needs and requirements in order to shape our strategic direction for eAssessment

ePortfolios with PebblePad

Group Aims:

  • Share current practice, experience and ideas from across faculties, schools and professions
  • Facilitate a supportive community of users willing to share tips, advice and best practice
  • Discuss current issues and concerns with PebblePad and identify possible solutions
  • Look at future needs to help shape development of the product
  • Identify additional support resources and refine current materials

Plymouth University Mobile App

Group Aims:

  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the mobile app to enhance the student experience
  • Gain an insight into the application’s purpose across the institution and beyond
  • Critique, refine and shape current features within the app
  • Review and analyse usage statistics to determine future practice and priorities
  • Help identify and prioritise future development opportunities and features
