Global Challenge

Take part in the Plymouth Global Challenge June 2016

Plymouth Global Challenge is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills as a global citizen. It is run by the Centre for Sustainable Futures and is made up of a week long programme.  Mornings will be based on campus with a range of fun and interactive activities and workshops. Afternoons will be spent out and about on the campus and in the local community engaging with initiatives that are about making a real difference.

Plymouth Global Challenge focuses on your personal development in the following areas:

  •  Awareness of how you can play a vital role in bringing about positive change in our increasingly interconnected world.
  •  Knowledge of global issues and cross-cultural understanding.
  •  Skills for exploring and addressing areas of global challenge and creatively taking forward your own personal development.
  •  Contribution to community projects that seek to be sustainable and contribute to wellbeing.

Who is it for?

Any student of Plymouth University, undergraduate or postgraduate may participate. The programme is free but spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

What is required of me?

An open mind, a spirit of discovery, a desire to learn and willingness to contribute. You will need to register your interest and commit to attending the four days Monday 6 June - Thursday 9 June.

How will it help me to find a job?

Reports from Government and industry stress the needs for graduates with global competencies:

'Ultimately, UK graduates, like their international counterparts, must be able to work across national borders, manage complex international and intercultural relationships, and understand global aspects of the world of work.'

Global Graduates.

'All major hiring companies need global citizens. Global sensitivities, global perspective, global insight; along with maturity and a capacity for risk taking, are exactly the skills every major organization is looking for – in every industry.'

Here’s what previous participants have to say…

"The course exceeded expectations and I felt I really developed as a person and a global citizen."

"The most interesting part of the course was meeting / interacting with those from different cultures, not just reading about it."

"I felt the whole week was very useful and inspiring and very different from what I thought we would do: challenging, inspiring and encouraging."

"I learnt a lot about myself."

"Would I recommend this course? Absolutely! Definitely! YES, YES, YES!"``
