Learning and Development

Here at Plymouth University we understand that our success revolves around the people who work here. Together we’re building a culture where ideas become reality. Where knowledge and education genuinely transform lives.

We’re equipping staff to fulfil their potential so that together we can build on our collective strength and deliver our vision.

University behaviours

Being successful here at Plymouth is more than what you do. It's also how you do it. That’s why, from our core values, we've derived our University behaviours. When you apply for a position with us, you'll see that we refer to these in all our role descriptions.

We have a wide range of learning and development opportunities available to our team, so you can really strive to achieve excellence in your role.

On our University intranet you’ll find easy to access multimedia resources, including video clips, reading materials and e-learning, alongside bookable training sessions. So you can direct your own development journey in a way that works for you.

One of our core values is being connected, and there are a range of networks and forums bringing together diverse groups of staff. These connections encourage enterprise and partnerships right across the University and also provide a platform for valuable informal learning through others.

All new academic staff at Plymouth University are required to hold, or be working towards gaining, a teaching qualification or accreditation in higher education. Read our Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) and Teaching Development Framework (TDF) Policy to find out more. Download the PGCAP TDF Policy document.
