Upcoming capital development

This section contains information on the University's upcoming building and estate development projects, both on the main campus and elsewhere across the estate.

Station project

Background information: Provides a new building and accommodation in order of 7,500 sqm. GIA for the Faculty of Health and Human sciences adjacent to the Plymouth rail station. This will accommodate the School of nursing and Physiotherapy.

Anticipated time scales: Construction 2019 - 2021 Opening Sept 2021

Potential disruptions: Extending the district heating system along Portland Villas will cause some disruption to the road or pavements for a few months.

Engineering and Arts Building

Background information: Provides a new building for the Faculty of Engineering and a Fab Lab for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. This building will be built on the western side of main campus.

Anticipated time scales: Construction 2019 - 2021 Opening Sept 2021

Decant projects - Relocation of teaching, work places and other facilities

MDEC - The decant solution for the Babbage project

Background information: This project will relocate the general teaching and TIS to a temporary accommodation off main campus. Other specialist teaching and training spaces will be relocated within the main campus. The project will enable the redevelopment of Babbage building.

Anticipated time scales: Relocate H&HS clinical skills April 2019. Relocate general teaching August 2019.

Potential disruptions: No disruption on main campus.
