School of Nursing and Midwifery interview days

Information for prospective students with an interview.
Please make sure you download all of the non-academic requirements documents listed below.

Nursing (Adult)

Arrival will be either 9.00 (AM session) or 13.00 (PM session). You will be sent a confirmation email with your chosen time and date once you book on to your preferred interview slot. The schedule outline is as follows:

  • Arrival, registration and welcome (20 minutes)
  • Watching a short video clip
  • One-to-one interviews will take place. You will be allotted a time on the day, and your assessment will last approximately 15 minutes
  • A numeracy quiz
  • A written exercise
  • Subject talk (45 minutes).

Information on funding and accommodation will be available. The latest finish time will be either 12.30 (AM session) or 16.30 (PM session) if all talks are attended.

Note: You must bring your second reference with you.

Nursing (Child Health)

You will be sent a confirmation email with your chosen time and date once you book on to your preferred interview slot. The schedule outline is as follows:

  • Arrival and registration (approximately 20 minutes)
  • Welcome, introduction, outline for the day and course presentation (40 minutes)

One-to-one interviews, numeracy and written assessments will take place and you will be allotted a time on the day; your interview will last no more than 20 minutes with the numeracy and written assessments taking 60 minutes.

Note: You must bring your second reference with you.

Nursing (Mental Health)

You will be sent a confirmation email with your chosen time and date once you book on to your preferred interview slot. The interview will comprise of:

  • A brief introduction to the University and the programme.
  • Viewing a short video of a care scenario followed by a short written response to what you think went well and less well (please note we do not expect you to have any clinical knowledge, this section is designed to assess your ability to write clearly).
  • A short numeracy test (10 calculation questions in 20 minutes).
  • A face to face interview (20 minutes).

You will be allotted a time on the day.

Pre-Registration Midwifery

  You will be sent a confirmation email with your chosen time and date once you book on to your preferred interview slot. The schedule outline is as follows:

  • Arrival and registration with Admissions staff (30 minutes)
  • Mathematics test 
  • English language test 
  • Presentation: Overview of the course 

Interviews will comprise of a multiple mini-interview system. You will be allotted time on the day.

Note: You must bring your second reference with you. 

Please bring some form of photo identification with you, such as a passport or driving license. You will not be able to complete your interview without this.
