To register for your preferred CPD modules, please complete a Short Course application form.

If you have already submitted an application form and are currently enrolled on the IMP, you may now register to attend up to two modules per academic term. Please complete an IMP Module Registration form.

Please note: the existing IMP was discontinued from May 2015. We are offering modules on the existing programme only for students enrolled prior to this date and within their five years registration. We are developing a new programme to which to bring this credit, replacing the current IMP. This is intended to launch in September 2016 building on our current strengths and providing some exciting new learning opportunities.

Modules listed below with the suffix PD are accredited for professional development and those with the suffix SC are non-accredited. All other modules are for our MA Education.

Semester 1 2015

Understanding Strategies for Tackling Underachievement

This module allows participants to consider the assumptions, research background and evidence for the success of current UK initiatives aimed at tacking underachievement. Alternative conceptions of achievement and teaching and learning approaches to underachievement will be explored. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own experiences, and develop practice within their own settings.

Venue: Plymouth campus.

Starting date: An introductory session will be held on Saturday October 10th 12-4pm to introduce an overview of module, indicate additional intra sessional study and identify individual focus. 

Subsequent sessions 

Saturday November 21st 10-4pm
Saturday December 5th 10-4pm
Additional assignment support session will be arranged.

Semester 1 2015

Promoting Learning: Autistic Spectrum Disorder 

This module investigates the impact of the Triad of Impairment associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorders on behaviour and thinking skills. It critically examines the relationship between ASD and the educational and therapeutic interventions which have developed. The module considers where and how specific interventions relate to generic approaches and how they can be drawn upon to provide effective teaching and learning in inclusive settings.
