This seminar will examine what ‘personalised care’ means for care homes. It will bring together perspectives from care homes, academics and those supporting improvement work.
Over the years, different phrases such as patient-centred, person-centred, and now personalised care have attempted to shift practitioners’ focus away from solely disease-centred approaches. NHS England has now made personalised care central to the latest NHS Plan, incorporating shared decision making, care planning, choice, self care, personal budgets and social prescribing.
The seminar will discuss what this means for people living in and working in care homes. It builds on conversations early in the pandemic.
Four five minute presentations taking different perspectives will be followed by debate and discussion.
The seminar will be led by Joanne Appleton (South West Integrated Personalised Care Manager, NHSE&I) and Professor Richard Byng (University of Plymouth and GP) and will take place online via Zoom.
The seminar is open to all. Please register your place via the above link.
