The second UK Robotics Week takes place from 24-30 June 2017 and Plymouth University is celebrating by hosting a public research event on Thursday 29th June, comprising presentations, lab demonstrations and a discussion on robotics and artificial intelligence.
From 15:00 onwards you are welcome to a series of quick-fire research presentations on cutting-edge robotics research by the University’s PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. At 18:00 there is the opportunity to visit the robotics labs at the University and see robots in action, all while having a drink and chatting to our research team. This will be followed at 19:00 by a talk and discussion on 'Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Society'.
This event is open to all (children of all ages welcome) and no booking is required - drop-in for any part of the programme as you wish (subject to capacity). Please note that seating in the lecture theatre is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

- 16:30 - Poster presentations with robot helpers! (venue: Atrium C, Portland Square Building)
- 18:00 - Lab demonstrations and welcome drink (venue: 1st Floor Labs and Atrium C, Portland Square Building)
- 19:00 - Announcement of best presentation and best poster winners
- 19:10 - Keynote talk 1: "Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Society" (speaker: Professor Ian Phillips, formerly of ARM Ltd)
- 19:45 - Keynote talk 2: "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics: Reasons to be cautiously cheerful" (speaker: Professor Tony Belpaeme, CRNS)
