You are invited to join Global Book Club Plymouth to discuss these two very different tales from Africa.

I Am A Girl From Africa by Elizabeth Nyamayaro

At eight years old Elizabeth Nyamayaro was rescued from starvation when drought hit her village in Zimbabwe, an experience that inspired her to work to help others. This memoir charts her quest in pursuit of her dream to Harare, London and beyond, eventually becoming a Senior Advisor at the United Nations.

Black Moses by Alain Mabanckou, translated by Helen Stevenson

A funny, moving, larger-than-life tale that chronicles Moses's ultimately tragic journey through the Pointe-Noire underworld and the politically repressive world of Congo-Brazzaville in the 1970s and 80s.

This free event is open to all. Read either, read both - or read neither and just join us for this discussion. Please email
