Transgender rights have become an urgent political issue. However, the transgender community is very diverse and poorly understood after years of misgendering, misinformation and stereotyping. This training event is suitable for all staff at the University (including subsidiary companies) and is delivered by trans facilitators from the Diversity Trust in an interactive, engaging and eye-opening session to help all University staff improve the services they offer to trans staff and students.
The course includes:
- What is trans? – trans people from a biological, social and historical viewpoint
- Trans lives – what is involved in gender transition and what issues do trans people face during and after the process?
- Using the right words – a guide to the complexities of trans language
- Trans people and the law – the Gender Recognition Act, the Equality Act and more.
This event is for University staff only (including subsidiary companies). If you are a member of staff, you should book via Employee Self-Service. If you are unable to do this then email equality@plymouth.ac.uk for assistance.
