Join us to discuss Tiny Sunbirds Far Away by Christie Watson.

When Blessing and her brother Ezikiel have to move from Lagos to their grandparents’ home in the Niger delta they struggle at first with the rural poverty. We follow their story as they come to terms with their new life and become part of their family and community.

This novel by Christie Watson – a British nurse married to a Nigerian – won the Costa prize for first novel in 2011. It’s a moving and absorbing read, touching on themes of exploitation by the oil industry, female genital mutilation and gang violence.

Please join us to discuss this vivid story of life in rural Nigeria.

The meeting is free and open to all. If you don't have time to read the book, a summary will be available.

There is disabled access to the venue. If the ground floor door is locked, ring 01752 588400.
