The Hydrographic Society UK & Ireland (THS:UKI) is a learned professional membership organisation providing a forum for everyone involved in activities related to hydrography and associated disciplines, both in the UK and overseas.
One of its principal objectives is to promote the advancement of education and training for those engaged in hydrography and associated disciplines and the South West Region’s annual Student Presentations Evening is a key part of this drive.
This free event is a fantastic opportunity for companies looking to recruit undergraduate and postgraduate students, currently nearing the end of their studies, to witness potential candidates’ presentation skills, technical proficiency, confidence and professional capability. It also showcases student research undertaken at the University and provides an ideal forum to offer the students advice or even practical assistance.
The programme will feature a series of short presentations in which the students will outline their own dissertation studies, specialising in a range of topics across hydrography, environmental and ocean science. There will also be ample time for Q&A and for the students to benefit from guidance or offers of support from the audience.
Second and third year students on the following degrees are eligible to showcase their dissertation studies/research: BSc (Hons) Ocean Exploration and Surveying, BSc (Hons) Oceanography and Coastal Processes, MSc Hydrography and MSc Applied Marine Science. First year students and those not taking part are also encouraged to attend.
Visit the THS:UKI South West Branch's webpage for full details and to register in-person attendance or email southwest@ths-uki.org to attend by Zoom. Please note registration is essential and must be made by Friday 24 March.
