The Sustainable Earth Institute invites you to a public talk from Natalyn Ala, as part of the University’s 2018 GeoCareers Fair.

Natalyn is Strategy Director, Major Projects, for Copper Consultancy, and Managing Director of Connery Kane Ltd. In her talk she will give an overview of the UK nuclear sector, including the nuclear build landscape (big and small) and disposal siting.

Speaker biography: Natalyn Ala (CGeol, CSci, PG, FRSA)

Natalyn is Strategy Director, Major Projects, for Copper Consultancy, and Managing Director of Connery Kane Ltd. Prior to this she was the Geological Disposal Siting Director for Radioactive Waste Management. She has had an exemplary career, initially as an international hydrogeologist and environmental consultant and then as an Executive Director for engineering and communications consultancy and central government organisations in the UK. 

Natalyn was employed with Atkins from 2000 to 2015 where she provided a variety of director functions and leadership on UK and international projects involving land regeneration, development and due diligence, water resource and contamination, waste characterisation, ground engineering and environmental liabilities, infrastructure and energy. Example projects for which she was involved were Sizewell C Power Station, High Speed Two Limited, Crossrail, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and London 2012 Olympic Park. 

In the delivery of her projects she has extensive experience engaging with and providing advice to a variety of clients and stakeholders, including planning authorities, environmental regulators, central and local governments, universities and research organisations, land owners, corporate businesses and local community groups. 

Natalyn is a Chartered Scientist, Chartered Geologist and was a Council Member of the Geological Society of London and Secretary for their Professional Committee from 2012 to 2016.
