The A30 is of strategic importance to the economy of Cornwall and the South West, connecting Carland Cross in Truro to the M5 near Exeter.
The 4.5km section between Temple and Higher Carblake, east of Bodmin, is the only length of single carriageway along the route. In order to ease congestion, a scheme designed by CORMAC Consultancy to dual this length has been promoted by Cornwall Council, Highways England and the Department for Transport.
Kier Infrastructure is the Principal Contractor.
The talk, given by Dominic Primmer MEng CEng FICE, will cover the design and construction challenges of the new works, including three new bridges to replace junctions at strategic locations, the management of current traffic, and ecological enhancement and mitigation measures.
