Swimming with Bertie book launch
  • The Reservoir Café, Plymouth University

Save event

Join us in celebrating the achievements of our talented students, on completing a children’s book - Swimming with Bertie - at the official launch on Tuesday 21 June.

Students, Mei Lee (BA (Hons) Illustration) and Hannah Stamp (BSc (Hons) English with Creative Writing), together illustrated, designed and wrote the book alongside their final year of study.

The story tells the tale of a young cat who is afraid of water, taking you through his journey to overcome this fear. The book aims to teach children how to swim, not to be afraid of the water and basic water safety.

The project brief was set by Aqua Elite, a business run by one of our Sporting Excellence Scholars, Olympic Swimmer Antony James here at the University. The business delivers swimming camps to children of ages 5-8 across the globe.

We hope you can come along and join us as we celebrate, listen to their experiences and get the chance to buy a signed copy for £4.99.

Complimentary light refreshments such as teas, coffees and cake will be served. Free entry and open to all.
