For over ten years the South West Marine Ecosystems Conference (SWME) has been taking place in the spring bringing together marine conservation, scientists and managers to share information and network to improve understanding, future monitoring and management.

For 2021 the SWME steering committee has organised a series of webinars from January to March 2021, hosted by three of the region's main marine institutions: the University of Exeter, the Marine Biological Association and the University of Plymouth. Today's webinar is hosted by the University of Plymouth and focuses on Marine Protected Areas (MPA) and Management.

  • The MPA talks will be presented first covering the latest research on the South West reefs and seagrass habitats to support better protection.
  • The Management talks will cover the latest research that is supporting new management plans.
  • Integrating Natural Capital and Nature Recovery will also be presented along with updates on new management plans.

We have an excellent collection of eight speakers who will be taking questions following each presentation.
