The South West Marine Ecosystem (SWME) conference series has been running for over ten years. It brings together marine conservation, scientists and managers to share information and network to improve understanding, future monitoring and management.
SWME is a community of active, passionate and influential marine enthusiasts across South West England coming together once a year to discuss and record the latest events and trends to promote collective knowledge. Its objectives are:
- Networking
- Annual events and recording of observations
- Ecology of marine species
- Management of South West marine ecosystems
- Marine education and outreach.
This year's conference will report on the state of the South West seas in 2022 and build the relationships between leading stakeholders who are engaged in understanding and managing this environment. The afternoon session will be chaired by the University's Dr Abigail McQuatters-Gollop with Dr Sian Rees discussing Marine Protected Areas.
