Does your company send products and parcels to London?  Do you use a courier or send a man in the van?

In Devon and Cornwall, there will soon be a new way to get your products to the capital without incurring the cost of road transport and the risk of hold ups through traffic congestion. An innovative partnership is about to be launched by 5PL, a smarter logistics company, that will make use of transport that is already linking the West Country with London every day.

Jeff Screeton, Managing Director of 5-PL and a supply chain expert with over 30 years experience will talk of his passion – Smarter logistics.

His company, 5-PL is spearheading the innovative use of passenger rail services to transport small- and medium-sized consignments, taking advantage of the speed over long distances and avoiding wasteful road mileage.

Following trials with East Midlands Trains, 5-PL is ready to showcase this truly sustainable concept on passenger trains from the South West. The venture is particularly attractive to local food and drink providers in the West Country, in getting their products to market in London with minimal handling, high speed and at an attractive price.

As rail services are fast and frequent, producing fewer emissions than road transport, this is a partnership that will be truly green and cost effective.

This free lecture is run by the Centre for Sustainable Transport in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Doors open at 6pm for 6.15pm start.
