This Global Book Club event is a joint meeting with Book Club Brest Jumelage.

Gabriel lives a happy childhood in Burundi with his French father and Rwandan mother, his little sister and his neighbourhood friends. But his world is torn apart when genocide strikes Rwanda and political upheaval destroys the society he has grown up in.

This novel, rooted in the author’s own experiences, won multiple prizes in the original French and has been translated into 30 languages. It has been recommended by an English-speaking Book Club in Brest, who will be joining us online.

The event is free to attend and is open to all - no booking required. If you don't have time to read the book, a summary will be available.

Email Sue Kay ( or call DDE on 01392 438811 for enquiries.

An initiative of Devon Development Education, Global Book Club Plymouth is supported by the University of Plymouth.
