Today, individuals across the nations will be forced, by fear of life threatening events, to make a choice. “Do I stay and suffer worsening circumstances that could be fatal, or do I find a way of escape that will offer a place of safety?”
The Plymouth Hope Festival is a day full of sport and family fun activities including cultural shows and food from all across the world. The festival is the official launch of Refugee Week in Plymouth and takes place the last Saturday before the actual UK Refugee Week. Plymouth Hope is joined by many community organisations with refugees and locals coming together to celebrate refugees contribution and diversity in the city.
The festival includes the following 6-A-Side football matches: Hope FC Football Tournament, U12 Competition, U18 Competition, and Adults Competition.
There is also a chance to meet Pudsey Bear and family activities include:
- Play Association activities art and craft / Children's fun activities
- Live bands and music / African drumming
- Bouncy castles / Face painting
- Red Cross therapeutic care / First aid demonstrations
- Dance and breakdancing
- Hair braiding / Henna tattoos and hand painting
- World food and refreshments
- Fire engine
- Mini petting zoo
- Meeting community organisations.
