Present Around the World is a global competition for young professionals and students within engineering to develop and showcase presentation skills. You don’t have to be a member of the IET to enter but must be 18-30 years of age to participate.

Competitors are asked to give a presentation for ten minutes on a subject related to engineering and technology, and to answer questions for a further five minutes. To make it even easier, it is perfectly acceptable to use your final year project presentation, a presentation from your graduate scheme or any other presentation which you already have.

The event is mainly to judge presentation skills although the topic should be appropriate to the intended audience of students and young professionals.

Over the past three years, the Devon and Cornwall PATW Heat has produced three UK PATW finalists, including one winner, all earning cash prizes in the process. If you'd be interested in competing and possibly winning up to £150 cash prize, please contact Rob Cooper ( for more information.

  • 18:00 - Participants arrive for refreshments and networking
  • 18:15 - Chair to make introductions and brief participants
  • 18:30 - Presentations start. Each will be up to ten minutes with five minutes Q&A
  • 20:30 - Conclusion and award to winners

This event will be particularly relevant to University of Plymouth students with an interest in science, engineering or technology.

Visit the IET event page for full details or contact Rob Cooper ( for more information.
