Organised by The Devonshire Association (Plymouth Branch), this free talk will be given by Clive Charlton, former lecturer from the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Plymouth, and chair of the Bere Local History Group.
The talk will focus on the story of the various lords of the manor who held sway in the land between the rivers Tamar and Tavy. These and the two MPs that ‘represented’ Bere Alston’s ‘rotten borough’ until the 1830s political reform were a colourful lot.
This talk is open to all and no booking is required. The talk will last for around an hour followed by questions, with opportunities for further questions during tea and coffee (optional).
