Shortlisted nominees from entries received are invited to attend this ceremony for awards in the following categories:

  • Star Award (Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Reliability) - for an individual who has consistently excelled in their position and has made outstanding contributions to the council/school by promoting teamwork and collaboration, always with a positive and forward thinking attitude. 
  • Innovation and Efficiency Award - recognises creative ideas that have improved the council/school, and have made Plymouth a better place to live or work. 
  • Customer Service Award - for an individual or team who have demonstrated that their customers are at the forefront of everything they do, or have gone out of their way to provide an excellent level of service. 
  • Team Award (Together Everyone Achieves More) - for a team that has functioned in an excellent way to achieve their goals and has adopted cooperation, collaboration and open communication. 
  • Leadership Award - for anyone who has demonstrated leadership qualities. 
  • Apprentice of the Year Award - to an apprentice who has demonstrated outstanding service, performance, teamwork and reliability. 
  • Staff Representative Award - recognises an individual trade union representative who has supported employee relations, demonstrating professional support and assistance to employees. 
  • Support Staff 'Star' of the Year Award - for an individual or team who has demonstrated dedication and commitment to the service they provide to the school and its pupils. 
  • Teacher of the Year Award - an individual who has delivered excellence in the provision of learning and teaching and has made a significant contribution to enhancing their pupils’ learning experience and the quality of their learning as well as going the extra mile in support of pupils and their school. 
  • Children's and Young Persons Social Worker of the Year Award - The William Phillip Tucker and Gladys May Tucker Trophy will be given to the chosen Children's and Young People's Social Worker of the Year for outstanding commitment to children and young people. 
  • Cooperative Values Award - a new award reflecting the Plan for our Brilliant Cooperative Council. This award will be given to a team or individual who has best represented the Democratic, Responsible, Fair and Partners Values of Plymouth City Council. 
  • Communities and Participation Award - given to an individual or team who has provided outstanding services to the community and its people or has voluntarily engaged in challenges, organised events/fundraising activities or has been part of a group or club outside of their normal work duties which has contributed to council/school priorities and values.
