Plymouth Albion Match in aid of Brain Tumour Research
Save event

Plymouth University is working in partnership with Brain Tumour Research to fundraise for world-leading research.

It is one of four Centres of Excellence in the UK. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet just 1% of national spending on cancer research is devoted to the disease. Scientists at the University are focusing investigations into this devastating disease, specifically on low-grade brain tumours. Their ground-breaking research is aimed at improving quality of life and survival rates for brain tumour patients, with the ultimate aim of finding a cure.

The charity partnership literally kicks-off on 13 September, when the Albion match at home to Nottingham will focus on Brain Tumour Research as its chosen cause.

The match crowd will learn all about the charity, the world class research that is happening in Plymouth and our ambition to raise £1 million a year for five years. In association with Santander, there will be opportunities to make donations to this worthwhile cause. Just £2,740 buys one day of research in the labs at Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, and once Plymouth Albion and Santander have achieved this amount they will have a plaque on the “Wall Of Hope” adjacent to the labs. The wall will be complete once we achieve our target of £1 million.

Plymouth University staff ticket offer
Match tickets are on offer to Plymouth University staff for £10 per ticket. Vouchers can be purchased from the UPSU shop on production of a staff ID card and redeemed before or on match day at Plymouth Albion.
