Organised by Brunel University, this event is part of their series focusing on the urgent and pressing issue of plastic resource and waste management.

A prestigious panel of speakers comprising international researchers and practitioners from different fields will cover the topic from diverse angles, and unpack the distribution of plastic pollution around the globe.

Today's panel includes Dr Winnie Courtene-Jones from the University of Plymouth's International Marine Litter Research Unit

Winnie is a plastic pollution expert with experience researching the sources and fate of (micro)plastics within the natural environment and providing evidence to support appropriate solutions to plastic waste. Her current research investigates the ecological fate and potential impacts of biodegradable plastics.

Winnie has researched plastic pollution in a variety of environments from the coastline to some of the most remote parts of our planet including the deep sea and oceanic gyres. She has authored a number of publications and technical reports, and has spoken to the UK and European parliaments.
