This workshop is for Plymouth University staff only.

Do students understand what a confidence interval is? Can you compute one for features of interest (such as the correlation coefficient).

Bootstrapping is a computational approach to statistical inference that helps clarify the concept for non-mathematical statisticians. It is also a very practical technique to deal with situations where mathematically derived confidence intervals are not easy.

This practical session will explore the use of the bootstrap by applying the technique to a variety of datasets with a view to encouraging classroom adoption of the technique.

Facilitated by Paul Hewson and Rana Moyeed.
