A joint event with AECOM, Crossrail and ICE on the Paddington Crossrail station.
Paddington Crossrail is the most western of the seven central stations which form part of the new Crossrail project through London.
The new Crossrail station is currently being constructed within a structural box underneath Eastbourne Terrace and Departures Road; adjacent to the Grade I listed Paddington mainline station.
The world-class architecture of the station exploits the excavated box structure, creating a grand rectangular double height space at concourse level which is worthy of the setting and association with Paddington Station. The striking canopy structure links the above ground and underground spaces in a dramatic and direct way.
Speaker Roger Hewitt, CEng, MICE, MIStructE, Technical Director AECOM will give a brief introduction to Crossrail and will move on to discuss the station design, the wider challenges that had to be overcome during the design process, and the construction of the top down station box itself.
All are welcome to this talk; you do not need to be an ICE member to attend. Please note that there is no charge and you are not required to book a place to attend this presentation.
