A Travel Writing Workshop comprising a very short walk 'Outside the Box' on Regent Street, a writing workshop and methodologies discussion will take place at the University on Wednesday 25 September.

Led by Clarisse Feindouno and Dr Charlie Mansfield with Jane Webb, the workshop examines research methodologies for place-writing by oscillating between analysis of field-notes and using place-writing as a synthesis for data collected using ethnographic methods, with a focus on the DRAMMA model for emotion. Using the newly emerging urban space around the re-built museum and library in Plymouth, the work will enable an interdisciplinary approach to ethnographic data collection, city-branding element analysis and tourism destination image creation.

It will be an opportunity to develop a narrative practice for the final stages of your research writing to reach a wider audience. While this approach has gained ground in tourism and heritage management studies it is a methodology that can be applied across business, arts and humanities disciplines.

This event is aimed at PhD researchers, final year dissertation students and anyone who is interested in applying for the ResM Masters for Travel Writers degree.

Please book your place at this free event via the Google form and be ready for rain if the weather looks inclement.
