Open State:
Originally performed in the Tokyo Arts Centre, White Studio (2015) and features sounds score from Mathew Emmett and John Matthias, choreography by Adam Benjamin (co-founder of CandoCo Dance Company) with the dancers of Kyo. Captures the curiosity of what happens when voices and possibilities are allowed to play in an open space and the dialogue between different bodies, cultures and stories are allowed to unfold. [with thanks to students at Plymouth University for their contribution to the research period].

Press review Open State

“highly skilled physical control and great trust between the dancers leads us through a series of playful choreography into the most unexpected surprises”.

Border choreographed by Takiko Iwabuchi
‘What differentiates me from others? What connects me to others? What makes me myself? The ending holds the answer’.
