Marine-i is delighted to host the latest Discovery Room event: Composite materials – sector challenges and opportunities for innovation.
This free to attend event will follow three themes: sector opportunities, regional expertise and end of life/recyclability of materials.
- Nigel Keen, Advanced Market Development Engineer at the National Composite Centre
- Stephen Leonard-Williams from Composite Integration
- Darren Newton of Multimarine Manufacturing
- Terence Macquart from University of Bristol
- Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult
Nigel Keen, Advanced Market Development Engineer at the National Composite Centre in Bristol will give a keynote presentation on sector opportunities and the UK National Composites Strategy.
Stephen Leonard-Williams from Composite Integration in
Saltash who will be looking at the opportunities offered by ‘industry 4.0’
technologies to optimise control in production
Darren Newton of Multimarine Manufacturing in Millbrook will
be looking at the challenges of building economic tooling for limited run
production and the problems boatyards face in disposing of boats and moulds.
A speaker from the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult will
be speaking about the performance challenges set to composite companies to meet
the key production and inspection methods in offshore wind energy.
This commercial experience will be balanced by presentations
from leading academics giving an overview of the research into the future
options for materials, processing and end of life options that avoid the
economic and environmental costs of landfill and there will be examples of new
processes being used to build new products from recycled materials.
