2024 is the 200th anniversary of the founding of Devonport. 
During those 200 years, the community has experienced profound change: moving from a hugely prosperous, independent town to become part of the City of Plymouth, experiencing devastation following extensive bombing in World War II, and major transformation through regeneration of the last two decades.
This year's Local Studies Day has been organised by the Plymouth Octopus Project's Community Heritage Network, in partnership with the University's Plymouth Heritage Praxis research unit, The Box and the Old Plymouth Society. 
The day will focus on Devonport with talks and exhibitions by local history groups highlighting their current projects. The exhibitions are open to the public and the organisers actively encourage people to drop in throughout the day to talk to groups about their work.
