Lecture: The Story of Southampton Docks

The talk will focus on the development of the Victorian Eastern Docks, on reclaimed land at the confluence of the Rivers Test and Itchen, followed by the ambitious construction of the deep water Western Docks by the Southern Railway in the 1920s and 30s.  

Speaker: Nigel Overton, Curator (City and Maritime Heritage) at Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery.

Start time: 7pm (venue: Lecture Theatre 5, Babbage Building). 

Refreshments will be available before the start of the lecture from 6.30pm in Room 002, Babbage Building.
