Japan400 Plymouth: 'Konnichiwa Kernow' by Play it Again
Save event

A tall ship sailed into Sutton Harbour on 27 September to commemorate the historic homecoming of The Clove 400 years ago. This re-enactment was the centrepiece of Japan400 Plymouth, an eight-day international event that celebrates the historic and cultural links binding the United Kingdom and Japan.

Japan400 Plymouth reaffirms these links and opens new opportunities for exchange, collaboration and discovery.

We are delighted to welcome Play it Again Theatre Company who will bring the power of live theatre in ‘KonnichiwaKernow!’ a FREE of charge, interactive outdoor promenade performance for young families lasting for approximately 45 minutes.

Through an exciting and eclectic promenade performance of taiko drumming, kendo, Japanese children’s games and perhaps some Japanese food, the Play it Again actors and local young people will share their interpretation of the story of The Clove. This was the ship that sailed to Japan and back 400 years ago, and in the process, initiated relations between England and Japan.

KonnichiwaKernow! is suitable for the entire family and especially its younger members! Bring your sense of adventure, imagination and a waterproof coat!

To join this amazing, FREE of charge theatre experience, please register by sending an email to jp400@plymouth.ac.uk.
