A tall ship will sail into Sutton Harbour on 27 September to commemorate the historic homecoming of The Clove 400 years ago. This re-enactment is the centrepiece of Japan400 Plymouth, an eight-day international event that celebrates the historic and cultural links binding the United Kingdom and Japan.
Japan400 Plymouth reaffirms these links and opens new opportunities for exchange, collaboration and discovery.
Shintaido means “New Body Way”. It is a modern movement system based on traditional Japanese martial arts - principally karate and sword techniques.
There are gentle exercises for those looking to rediscover a more natural way of moving, and also plenty of open and energetic movements for people seeking to challenge themselves and open up their horizons. Shintaido is open to everyone, the movement is co-operative rather than competitive, with the emphasis on listening to yourself and your partner.
Led by Masashi Minagawa, Shintaido Doshu (Master Instructor), Karate 5th dan, Bojutsu 5th dan.
Free admission but booking is required for this event. Contact Adam Benjamin for more information and to reserve a place.
