Plymouth University's Institute for Social, Policy and Enterprise Research (iSPER) has been established to promote interdisciplinary research and develop external collaboration in the areas of social research, policy development and business.
Aiming to make a real impact on businesses, communities and public policy, iSPER brings together academic expertise from a number of different disciplines including business management; economics and finance; marketing; shipping, logistics and supply chain management; human resources; law and criminology; and politics, sociology and international relations.
This event will provide an opportunity to hear about the mission, vision and research themes of iSPER, to meet with iSPER members, and to explore collaboration opportunities.
The main event will last from 18.00 to 19.00 and will include talks from:
- Professor Simon Payne, the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Professor Nikolaos Tzokas, the Executive Dean for the Faculty of Business who will open and close the event respectively.
- Professor Jingjing Xu will speak about the establishment of iSPER and our new Themed Research Groups and Initiatives.
- Ben Rhodes, Chief Executive of the Devon and Cornwall Business Council, will speak about engagement between academics and businesses.
- Professor Georgy Shapiro and Professor Sheena Asthana will talk about the benefits and challenges of leading interdisciplinary research projects.
The event is open to academics from all disciplines as well as stakeholders in public policy, business and the third sector.
Registration is from 17:30 and the event starts at 18:00.
