The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is one of the principal government organisations dedicated to supplying sensitive and specialist science and technology in the defence and security field. 

This talk will introduce Dstl as an executive agency, providing an overview of the work conducted across the five Dstl divisions. Following this, work conducted in the Counter Terrorism and Security Division will be discussed in more detail, with a focus on the chemistry of explosives and their detection.
