This session will introduce the Student Support System (S3) and is aimed at new academics or those who have not previously attended a training session. 

The session will cover:

  • background/principles of S3
  • what data is available and where it comes from
  • the various roles within the system
  • what can you do with S3
  • some examples of how to use the system.

The session will be led by Dr Paul Dowland who designed and built the S3 system and continues to maintain and develop it. Paul is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Head) in the School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics. The session is suitable for academic and professional service users. 

Before the session it is preferable for you to have an account on the system (login at If you do not have an account, when you login you can find a list of ‘senior managers’ within your school – they are able to add you as a user.
