Institute of Health and Community Winter Networking Event

The Institute of Health and Community are delighted to invite you to attend this networking event with guest speaker Chris Parsons, manager of the Dartington LandWorks project.

LandWorks, A Route to Resettlement

LandWorks is a work-based training scheme providing a supported route back into the community for current and ex-offenders. Based on the vibrant Dartington estate, work-based training goes hand-in-hand with developing life and social skills. Through being involved in a positive and non-judgemental workplace, trainees develop responsibility, self-belief and confidence. These vital tools give trainees the ability to choose a life away from offending, to find a job and to play a positive role in community life. The project works with men on day-release from local prison HMP Channings Wood, and other men and women serving sentences in the community.

Chris has been involved in the project from its conception in late 2011. In 1988 Chris founded Greenlands Landscaping, based in Totnes and employing up to 14 people. From 1995 Chris started to employ people with, drug and alcohol issues; this progressed to working with offenders and then prolific offenders, approximately 30% of the workforce. This ultimately led to his development of the LandWorks project.

This free seminar will be followed by a networking session with lunch provided. The event is open to all but booking is required via the Eventbrite website.

Location: Room 002/003, Rolle Building, Plymouth University.
