Guinness World Record: Appathon
  • Babbage Building, Plymouth University

Save event

The British Computer Society Women Group is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people learning to write Android smartphone applications at the same time and you can be part of it!

Individual and families with children (over ten years of age) are welcome to come and learn how to build Android apps using MIT AppInventor, a free, web-based system for creating simple apps using drag-and-drop coding techniques.

The workshop is a family fun day that is open to all (please note that under 18s attending will need a guardian, e.g. mothers and sons, fathers and daughters, aunties and nephews).

We'll be building apps in mixed age groups and you will need to bring your own android smartphone or tablet to use on the day.

You will leave the day with apps you have built, and the software installed on your own laptop to play around with it once you get home.

What you need to take part

  • An android smartphone/tablet
  • The desire to design your own app
  • Your guardian if you are under 18 (to be present at all times)
  • A packed lunch.

Please note: This event is being recorded and photographed. If you do not wish to be photographed or videoed, then please ensure you inform the organiser on the day.
