Save event

Join the first Green Maker Initiative event hosted by MAKE Southwest and supported by Low Carbon Devon helping makers reduce the environmental impact of their practice.

This is a great opportunity for any makers interested in learning best practices and tips and tricks for becoming more sustainable via live creative demos, workshops, exhibitions from makers addressing the climate emergency and information stands from local and community environmental causes. Big or small actions, we all have something to share from our green approach! We welcome anyone interested to come along to the beautiful Riverside Mill venue on the edge of Dartmoor.

The event will also host the launch of the Materials Exchange where makers can bring their (reusable) unwanted materials or off-cuts and exchange for donated materials from other makers and manufacturers from the South West - including, veg-dyed leather off-cuts donated by Turnstyle Designs. And we’ll be joined by Precious Plastics Plymouth and Tavistock who will be showcasing how they recycle plastic to produce beautifully designed household objects.

As well as Precious Plastics Plymouth and Tavistock, our other special guests include Climate Emergency Bovey & Heathfield (CEBH), The Wood Lab, Low Carbon Devon / University of Plymouth, and Mend Assembly.

This event is free and open to all. Members of the public are welcome to get involved with the demos and activities, and grab a bargain at the Perfectly Imperfect sale where beautifully imperfect crafted items will be sold in a bid to reduce waste. We especially invite creatives to come along to this event to network, discover new techniques and participate in the conversation about making craft more sustainable.
