Join us to discuss Last Man Off by Matt Lewis.

Matt Lewis, a 23 year-old British marine biologist, describes life aboard a deep-sea fishing boat on the Antarctic seas.

He relates in gripping detail the events that take place when the boat is overwhelmed by a huge storm and the crew have to take to the life rafts.

His courage and leadership prove vital in reducing the loss of life that could have ensued.

The account he gives is dramatic and immediate and reminds us of the unforgiving nature of the ocean in such remote places. The book gives a moving insight into Matt's and his fellow crewmen's reactions in the days immediately after their rescue. Matt relates the longer term impact on his life and the enquiry into the causes of the sinking and loss of life.

The meeting is free and open to all. If you don't have time to read the book, a summary will be available.
