A beautifully written account of a year spent exploring the ancient city of Varanasi, through the eyes of the people that live there.

Venturing away from the familiar ghats favoured by backpackers seeking an enlightenment hit, Moore Ede encounters a complex and multifaceted city rarely touched by tourists.

Body cremators and cheese makers, prostitutes and widows, the book explores the city's most important themes through its people, creating a vibrant portrait of modern, multicultural India.

Join us to discuss this evocative portrayal of an ancient city in a fast-changing country.

The event is free to attend - no booking required. If you don't have time to read the book, a summary will be available.
