  • Sherwell Centre, University of Plymouth

Save event
What makes a good teacher in a university? What do I need to know to be a teacher in higher education? What is the relationship between teaching and research? How can I support existing teaching?
If you are a postgraduate research (PGR) student or early career researcher (ECR), this conference is for you. It explores good teaching practice and offers the opportunity to reflect on what makes a good teacher:
  • get tips and advice on how to teach more effectively
  • develop your career opportunities by learning how to be a good university teacher
  • ease the transition from researcher to teacher
  • gain communication skills
  • share your knowledge and experience with others
  • take the opportunity to get a Supporting Assessment Learning and Teaching (SALT) qualification (please note that you will be required to do some preparatory work for the SALT training, which will be sent to you to complete before the session).
The conference will support you if you are already teaching, would like to get into teaching and want to develop a career that includes university teaching. More generally, it will help improve your communication and presentations skills.
