Join us in Drake's Place for the Freedom Community Festival Launch Event.

The annual Freedom Community Festival (now in its 10th year) is held in the Greenbank, Mutley and surrounding areas of Plymouth to celebrate the diverse community and to bring people together.

The festival is supported by a range of organisations including Plymouth University with events held over six days - full details can be found on the Freedom Community Festival website.

Tuesday 26 May (venue: Drake's Place Gardens, North Hill, Plymouth)

Freedom Community Festival Launch Event (12pm-4pm)
The event will welcome the Lord Mayor at 1pm and host a range of activities including Bug Hunt Britain in Bloom, Plant Sale, activities for kids and lots more. As part of this year’s festival, Drake's Place will be hosting an Urban Gardening Festival. Come along and buy plants and paraphernalia from local suppliers, watch gardening demonstrations and enjoy a tour of the newly restored gardens, planted up to the original 1910 Treseder Nursery planting plan. 
Bugstravaganza (12pm-2pm)
Join us as we go bug hunting. Explore the local biodiversity and discover what lives alongside us in the natural world. There will be outdoor labs with microscopes and the chance to learn about the wonderful world of bugs. There will also be a free showing of 'Antz' at 2pm in the Jill Craigie Cinema, Roland Levinsky Building. Please note that places are limited for the film screening, so email drakesplace@plymouth.ac.uk to reserve your seat. 

Wednesday 27 May (venue: Sherwell Centre, Plymouth University)

Community Information Day (11am-3pm)
A day to showcase the support available to people in Plymouth including a health survey, possible Westcountry Hawks Children's teddy bear picnic, police. Further information to follow.
