Planning is one of the main factors of success in any business. This self-employment advice session helps participants to decide if self-employment is right for them, how to identify and follow their passion, how to start-up and how to stay motivated and on track.

As a start up, it can feel overwhelming when trying to write a business plan or know what financial records to keep. This workshop gives you the confidence to take the leap and become self-employed.

This course introduces you to:

  • an outlook for self-employment
  • time management
  • financial planning.

What will you gain from it?

  • Gain confidence in your ideas and aspirations, as you understand just how to map out and plan your business. These principles apply not only during start up but also are great practice for a future of self-employment.
  • A practical approach to financial record keeping for self-employment.

Who is it for?

Any current University of Plymouth student who wants to or is exploring the idea of being self-employed and starting a business before or soon after graduating.

The session is led by Entrepreneur in Residence Raphael Dennett and is open to current students from all faculties.

This workshop is facilitated by the Futures Entrepreneurship Centre's BETA Enterprise Programme.
