Marine fisheries within the France (Channel) England region support approximately 4,000 vessels, 27% of the UK and 28% of the French fishing fleets. The regions also host many fishery-dependent communities, with significant input to the local economy and employment rates.

The €4.1million FISH INTEL project, supported by €2.8million from the European Regional Development Fund via the Interreg France (Channel) England programme, will use innovative underwater tracking technology to follow marine animals across the Channel and build a comprehensive picture of fish movements and the habitats individual species prefer.

The knowledge gained throughout the project will be used to help authorities across the region implement a holistic approach to fisheries management programmes, ultimately improving damaged habitats, increasing biodiversity and supporting the socio-economic wellbeing of local coastal communities.

The FISH INTEL project is a cross-border collaboration involving partners across the UK, France and Belgium who work directly with fishers, regulators and industry representatives in the three countries, with the University of Plymouth being the lead partner.

This Zoom webinar is FISH INTEL's public launch event and everyone is welcome to attend. Please register your place via the above link or email fishintel_interreg_fce@plymouth.ac.uk for any queries.

Interpretation for this event will be available in French and English. The event will open at 09:15 and start promptly at 09:30. We hope to see you there!
