A group of Devonport-based Royal Navy ratings, due to sail to America for a six-month NATO exercise, go out on the town on their last night in port, hitting Plymouth's notorious Union Street district, with violent results.

Remembrance was one of the first films commissioned by Channel 4 with the inception of the new public broadcaster in the early 1980s. The film features a distinctive Brian Eno soundtrack and significant early performances from many British actors who have gone on to establish significant careers such as Gary Oldman, Timothy Spall and John Altman.

The film also features many Plymouth residents and Navy personnel as extras who will reunite for the first time on the night.

Peninsula Arts 'Revolutions' Season: The Silent Revolution

One of the most famous silent films ever made, Battleship Potemkin, headlines the film programme this season. Depicting the 1905 Soviet Revolution, it is in itself a revolutionary piece of film, not only through its journey from Soviet propaganda and censorship, but also through the radical film techniques used by Sergei Eisenstein that have become synonymous with Soviet film-making or Kinema.
